Battlelog and Battlefield 3 have been experiencing ongoing server outages since early Wednesday morning (5/8/13). Despite developer DICE’s best efforts to resolve the problems, which they say are the result of activity intentionally aimed at overwhelming their back-end infrastructure, the servers still aren’t stable again.

With the recent reveal and ongoing development of Battlefield 4, you might assume that DICE had put Battlefield 3 on the back burner. Well, you’d be mistaken. A post published today on Battlelog reveals that the developer hasn’t finished dishing out double XP time for the 18-month old game just yet.

Microtransactions have become more and more popular since free-to-play and mobile gaming became the “norm”. It’s not only mobile and free-to-play titles that offer in-game purchases, though. Most recently Call of Duty added microtransactions to their latest game, Black Ops 2, in the form of personalization packs, more Create a Class slots, stuff like that. Now it has emerged that Gears of War: Judgment will also offer gamers the chance to purchase extra stuff in-game.

A lot of people have been happily playing Crysis 3‘s thoroughly enjoyable multiplayer since the game launched last month – me included. It’s a great game. For those that picked up the game late and have some catching up to do, or those that need a helping hand, Crytek just announced that the second Crysis 3 double XP weekend will kick off tomorrow.

In celebration of End Game becoming available to all Battlefield Premium members this weekend, DICE have announced that they will be flicking the Battlefield 3 double XP switch on. Starting Friday, March 15 at 2pm PST, all Battlefield Premium members will get 72 hours-worth of double XP. The double XP will be active across all maps and game modes (not just End Game) on all ranked servers.

With Gears of War: Judgment‘s release edging ever closer (18 days away), it might be a good idea to find your copy of Gears of War 3 and get some practice in so that your skills are pin sharp and ready to bust some heads in the new game. Should you choose to do so, you’ll be getting 10x XP in Gears of War 3′s multiplayer. No, that’s not a typo – 10x XP!

As has become the norm for games that are to receive multiple DLC packs over several months, Gears of War: Judgment owners will have the opportunity to purchase a VIP Season Pass, granting access to two game add-on packs and permanent double XP. The Gears of War: Judgment VIP Season Pass will set you back 1600 Microsoft Points, a 20 percent saving on the total cost of the DLC if bought separately.

According to Epic Games, there will be a “broad range of DLC offerings for Gears of War: Judgment, including six multiplayer maps, two new modes and nine exclusive unlocks spread across two packs.”

Those that have pre-ordered or plan on picking up Crysis 3 before the first weekend post-launch (Fri, 22 February) have a weekends-worth of double XP to look forward to, which is nice!

The official Crysis Twitter account just “inquired” as to how many of their followers “are interested in some Double XP for the first Crysis 3 Multiplayer weekend?”. I think it’s safe to say that everyone is interested in getting some Crysis 3 double XP over the launch weekend, Crytek.
