Modern Warfare 3 developer Infinity Ward has announced that they will be adding a new, community chosen playlist to the game on Friday, October 26.

Called MW3some, Infinity Ward are trying to keep people playing Modern Warfare 3 as long as possible before it makes way for Black Ops 2 in three weeks time by adding a new playlist to the game in which the community get to vote on which maps and game modes are included.

Infinity Ward’s community coordinator Candice (@candyslexia) has announced via Twitter that two new game modes have been added to Modern Warfare 3 via a playlist update. From today, when booting up Modern Warfare 3 you’ll notice Face Off mode has a new Hardcore 3v3 playlist, and there’s a new game mode called Money in the Denk (MITD) in the community playlist.

Infinity Ward have had so many double XP weekends for Modern Warfare 3 that chances are the regular players don’t need the bonus XP – they’ve either reached max prestige or given up on prestiging. However, the developer announced today that they will be pushing the double XP switch again this weekend nonetheless. Starting Friday, September 28th through Sunday the 30th, you’ll be able to get double XP on Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops on all platforms.

Infinity Ward have revealed the release dates for the final drops in Modern Warfare 3‘s season of content for the PlayStation 3 and PC. On October 9th, premium Elite members on the PlayStation 3 will be able to download the final three Modern Warfare 3 content drops – drops 22-24:

Modern Warfare 3‘s season of content comes to a close today for Elite premium members on the Xbox 360 with the release of the final content drops. Drops 22-24, multiplayer maps Gulch, Boardwalk and Parish – the final three DLC maps for Modern Warfare 3 – are available to download now. Read on for pictures and explanations of the three maps.

After a shaky start, the latest batch of Modern Warfare 3 content drops became available for premium Elite members on the PlayStation 3 today – drops 16-18; multiplayer maps Offshore and Decommission, bonus multiplayer map Terminal, plus Spec Ops mission Vertigo - and in celebration there’s a double weapon XP weekend about to go down.

Today saw the launch of August’s content drops for Modern Warfare 3 on the Xbox 360. Premium Elite members got to download Spec Ops Missions Light ‘Em Up and Special Delivery, plus the new mode that runs in Spec Ops called ‘Chaos Mode’.

As has become customary with the launch of new DLC for Modern Warfare 3, there’ll be an accompanying double XP weekend for you to take advantage of in the name of today’s content drops, and Collection 3‘s launch on August 9th. It’ll commence Friday, August 10th and finish up Monday, August 13th. 

Chaos Mode

Release dates and details for the maps included in Modern Warfare 3‘s final two map packs (Collections) have been revealed by publisher Activision today.

Modern Warfare 3′s Season of Content comes to a close with the last two Content Collections – Collection 3: ‘Chaos Pack’ and Collection 4: ‘Final Assault’ – coming to the Xbox 360 on August 9 and September 6, 2012 respectively.

Collection 3: Chaos Pack will introduce the brand new Special Ops ‘Chaos Mode’, in addition to offering three all-new Face Off maps and four new Special Ops missions. Collection 4: Final Assault will be released on September 6 and deliver five all-new multiplayer maps.
