At today’s Google I/O conference, the search giant announced and launched ‘Google Play Game Services’, allowing game developers to easily add multiplayer gaming, achievements, leaderboards, and cloud save capabilities to their games, whether on Android, iOS, web, or any other online platform.

Ubisoft released the Spies Vs. Mercs announcment trailer last week, confirming that the multiplayer game mode would be making a return with Splinter Cell: Blacklist when it launches later this year on August 20th. Today, the team have released some more Spies Vs. Mercs gameplay. This time around though, the dev team take you through what’s going down in the gameplay with a running commentary.

Ubisoft’s third-person shooter, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, is due for release August 20th, bringing with it a multiplayer game mode called Spies Vs Mercs.

Spies Vs Mercs involves one team (the Spies) trying to hack data located on stations positioned throughout the map. In order to make the Spies’ task a little easier, they have a few abilities that the Mercs don’t; they are very agile, stealthy and deadly in the shadows. The Mercs, who’s objective it is to protect the data, have a few special abilities of their own to aid them in protecting the precious data; they are heavily armored, powerful and lethal in the light.

The next Xbox – whatever it is to be called – will be unveiled on May 21st, it has emerged today. Press passes to attend a reveal event at the Xbox Campus in Redmond were sent out today, inviting journalists to a “special unveiling” with Don Mattrick and the Xbox team.

Gears of War: Judgment‘s second map pack, the “Call to Arms Map Pack” brings VIP Season Pass owners and those willing to shell out 1000 Microsoft Points (from April 30) three new multiplayer maps, a brand-new mode called “Master at Arms,” six armor and gun skins, plus new Achievements. 

Developer 343 Industries added the ability to re-balance Halo 4‘s weapons without having to go through the tedious patching process as part of a recent update. Now that they can fine-tune weapons with a simple hotfix, the team are “currently evaluating the state of Halo 4’s weapon balance” in order to identify weapons and categories of weapons that need some attention. 

Black Ops 2‘s first map pack, Revolution included a bonus weapon as part of its offerings – the Peacekeeper SMG – for the first time in Call of Duty history.

With no gun DLC announced as part of Uprising, Black Ops 2′s second map pack, the community have begun wondering why there won’t be a new gun introduced to the game for people who purchase Uprising.

The latest Crysis 3 update (1.3) is live now on the PC, with the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions due to arrive later this week, according to developer Crytek.

Crysis 3 patch 1.3 is an all-platform patch, although not all platforms will update at the same time, and patch notes vary slightly across each platform.

For various reasons Gears of War: Judgment‘s first DLC, the Haven multiplayer map and Execution game mode were released over the weekend, a little earlier than today’s planned release date.

Epic Games applied a new update for GoW: Judgment at the same time that the DLC went live. It was “a great opportunity to make some updates that could reach a broad audience,” said the developer in a post titled “What Are We Doing” which revealed the changes made in the ‘mystery’ update.
